Top Ten

Thanks Connie for this great blogging idea!

In honor of Valentine's Day, here's a list of my top ten favorite Romantic Comedies (just in case you can't afford a nice evening out):

10. Much Ado About Nothing (a fun comedy based on Shakespear)

9. 50 First Dates (this movie is just so sweet and cute)

8. The Wedding Singer (I love the 80's flashback)

7. Legally Blonde (great chick flick!)

6. Elf (I know this is a Christmas movie, but I think it's a fun romance, too!)

5. The Holiday (this movie was a pleasant suprise, I really loved it!)

4. Notting Hill (Eric and I both love this movie... Eric's favorite quote is by Spike "chicks dig grey...")

3. Love Affair (I love this movie. It's a modern remake of An Affair to Remember and the chemistry between Anette Benning and Warren Beatty is hard to beat!)

2. You've Got Mail (this used to be my all time favorite romantic comedy, until just a couple months ago...)

1. 27 Dresses (my new all-time favorite! I love that James Marsden finally gets the girl!!!)

Zombie

Yesterday I did something that I haven't done in Years...

I rented movies from this cool place...

I'm finally getting around to that Chick Flick Blog Request I made months ago! Click Here to look at the comments section for some really good recommendations.

Then after kids were in bed I watched this...

LOVED IT!!! And for the record, MY bridesmaid's dresses were WAY better than most of these! (There was one that resembled mine, but no exact matches!) This one is worth buying... I could see myself watching it over and over again...

Then, I decided that I would move upstairs and watch the second movie in my room, so if I fell asleep, no big deal....

I enjoyed this but not as much as I liked 27 Dresses. I felt like it was so similar to My Best Friend's Wedding... way too predictable!

I didn't fall asleep until somewhere in the neighborhood of 1:30 this morning.... ugh.... time to break out this:

FHE stands for....

Family Home Evening. But tonight with several of the "men" gone from our ward to take the YM Canoing down the Colorado River, it stood for:

Friends (and food),

House full of kids, &

Even chocolate chip cookies!

With some last minute planning, a few of us (temporarily widowed women) got together and ate take out, let the kids run wild, and watched two chick flicks back to back!!! I can't remember a time when that's happened in recent years!

We watched this: And then this:
Fun chick flicks that even Megan could watch with us. She loved being part of the "girl" group and not having to be in charge of the kids. The rest of the kids watched Jimmy Neutron and Shrek the Third in the other room.

Fun was had by all, lots of chocolate chip cookies were consumed and children are now sleeping soundly in their beds! All in all, a successful FHE!

And the Winner Is...

..... Adria S.! Congrats Adria! If you want to email me your address, I'll put the Blockbuster card in the mail asap! Too bad I didn't know this before the baby shower last weekend, huh??

Thanks for all your wonderful suggestions on movies - I can't wait to start checking them out at the library this summer!

Here are some of my favorites that I'm surprised no one mentioned:

Much Ado About Nothing (starring Kenneth Brannaugh and Emma Thompson) one of the cutest Shakespear adaptations I've ever seen!

Love Affair (starring Annette Benning and Warren Beatty) a modern day remake of An Affair To Remember... I ball like a baby every single time I watch this and I LOVE the music in it, too!

Notting Hill (starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant) yes, I know the humor is crass, but it's so funny coming from the Brits!

Chick Flick Giveaway!

Summer is upon us, even here in Phoenix, where we actually got a late start to summer this year. No complaints from me! We are now officially into "hibernation season". Every week we go to the library to scour the racks for movies to check out... watching TV/movies always ends up being a big part of our summer vacation here! I often feel left out when we check out movies and because I'm usually chasing around a toddler through the library, I don't often get to browse the adult movie racks for wonderful gems!

So, here's where the fun begins - I'm asking for your help! Leave me a comment with your top three favorite chick flicks (available on DVD) and I'll put your name in a drawing for a free $5 Blockbuster gift card!!! I have one still sitting on the counter from Christmas and I'm willing to share it for some really great movie ideas! (Hey, it's not much, but enough for one free movie rental, right???)

Here's the guidelines:
1- no Jane Austen movie recommendations - I already have them ALL and watch them often!
2- please no rated R movies - not my thing!
3- make sure your name is somewhere in your comment so I can put your name in the drawing
4 - you can leave multiple comments which will give you more than one chance to win as long as you leave three different movie titles in each one!
5 - contest closes next Friday at noon (pacific time, which is Arizona's time zone when the rest of the world is on daylight savings time....)

Good Luck - I can't wait to see what fun movies ya'll recommend!
